Kingdom Knights is not a motorcycle club; we are a motorcycle ministry with a primary focus on youth, especially youth in prison. Our goal is to carry the plan of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior to those who have not heard it, or have not accepted God’s grace and forgiveness through Christ. We not only share our love of the Lord, but also share a common interest in motorcycles and use them in our ministry.
The ministry was started in January 2005 in Dallas, Texas, under the support of Clearwater Community Church (CCC) and the passion and leadership of John “Tailgunner” Taylor, Jerry “Duck” Cox and Mike “Flying Dutchman” Oonk. John’s passion for prison ministry came out of his own experience in prison and the life changing message of hope and salvation that changed his life when he found a personal relationship with his risen Savior.
The ministry could not exist without the encouragement of Dr. Phil Humphries, senior pastor of Clearwater Community Church, whose members formed the first chapter of Kingdom Knights with over 20 members. Both Phil and Larry Kent, associate pastor, are bikers as well and are involved in the ministry.
CCC’s first exposure to the possibility of a biker ministry was in August 2004, when they held a special biker worship service supported by Bikers For Christ. The service highlight was a skit involving Tailgunner John and another member of CCC and included motorcycles as part of the presentation. The skit was fun for all, but included the message of salvation through Christ.
